Premium Inca Berries – Sweet, Tangy & Naturally Unique
Discover the deliciously unique flavour of our Premium Inca Berries. Also known as Golden Berries or Physalis, these small golden fruits are naturally dried to preserve their vibrant colour, chewy texture and irresistible sweet-tart flavour.
With a taste that balances tropical sweetness with a refreshing tang, Inca berries are a versatile pantry staple perfect for snacking, baking and adding a gourmet touch to everyday meals.
What are Inca berries?
Inca berries are the dried fruit of the physalis plant, a small golden berry traditionally grown in South America, particularly Peru and surrounding regions. They are also known as golden berries, Peruvian ground cherries or physalis.
After being harvested, the berries are dried to create a chewy, flavour-packed snack that can be enjoyed all year round.
What do Inca berries taste like?
Inca berries have a distinctive sweet and tangy flavour with notes of tropical fruit. Their taste is often compared to a combination of pineapple, citrus and dried apricot, with a refreshing tartness that makes them different from traditional dried fruits.
Their chewy texture and bright flavour make them a delicious alternative to raisins or cranberries.
What are Inca berries used for?
Inca berries are incredibly versatile and can be enjoyed in:
- Trail mixes
- Granola and muesli
- Breakfast bowls
- Yoghurt toppings
- Smoothie bowls
- Salads
- Baking
- Muffins and cakes
- Energy balls
- Chocolate treats
- Cheese boards
- Desserts
They also make a delicious snack straight from the pack.
Can you eat Inca berries on their own?
Yes. Inca berries are ready to eat and make a convenient snack at home, work or on the go. Their sweet-tart flavour makes them a delicious option for anyone looking for something naturally fruity with a little extra zing.
Do Inca berries need to be soaked?
No. Dried Inca berries can be enjoyed straight from the pack. If you prefer a softer texture, they can be soaked in warm water, juice or added to recipes where they naturally soften.
Are Inca berries the same as golden berries?
Yes. Inca berries and golden berries are two names commonly used for the same fruit. They are also known as physalis or Peruvian ground cherries.
How do you use Inca berries?
Simply enjoy them as a snack or add them to your favourite recipes. They are delicious mixed through granola, sprinkled over yoghurt, added to baking or combined with nuts and chocolate for a gourmet trail mix.
Their sweet and tangy flavour also pairs beautifully with cheeses and savoury platters.
Are Inca berries healthy?
Inca berries are naturally a source of fibre and contain a range of naturally occurring nutrients. They are a popular choice for those looking to add more variety to their snacks and meals.
Enjoy them as part of a balanced and varied diet.
How should Inca berries be stored?
Store Inca berries in an airtight container in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Reseal the package after opening to help maintain freshness, flavour and texture.
