Premium Iranian Saffron – The World’s Finest Saffron
Experience the rich aroma, vibrant golden colour and unmistakable flavour of Premium Iranian Saffron. Hand-harvested from the delicate stigma of the Crocus sativus flower, Iranian saffron is renowned worldwide for its exceptional quality, making it the preferred choice for chefs and home cooks alike.
Just a small pinch transforms everyday dishes with its beautiful colour, subtle floral aroma and luxurious taste. Whether you’re preparing Persian rice, seafood, desserts or traditional Middle Eastern recipes, saffron is an essential pantry ingredient.
What is Iranian saffron?
Iranian saffron is the dried crimson stigma of the saffron crocus flower (Crocus sativus). Each flower produces only three delicate threads, which are carefully hand-picked and dried, making saffron one of the world’s most precious spices.
Iran produces the majority of the world’s saffron and is internationally recognised for its superior quality, vibrant colour, intense aroma and high flavour strength.
Why is Iranian saffron considered the best?
Iranian saffron is highly regarded because of its ideal growing conditions, traditional harvesting methods and generations of expertise. Premium Iranian saffron is known for its deep red threads, powerful aroma and ability to infuse dishes with a rich golden colour and distinctive flavour using only a small amount.
What does saffron taste like?
Saffron has a unique flavour that is delicate, floral and slightly earthy with subtle notes of honey and hay. Rather than being overpowering, it adds depth, warmth and complexity to both savoury and sweet dishes.
Its unmistakable aroma and vibrant colour are what make saffron so prized in cuisines around the world.
What is Iranian saffron used for?
Iranian saffron is used in a wide variety of dishes, including:
- Persian saffron rice
- Paella
- Risotto Milanese
- Biryani
- Seafood dishes
- Chicken and lamb recipes
- Soups and stews
- Cakes and pastries
- Ice cream and desserts
- Saffron milk and herbal infusions
A small amount goes a long way, making saffron a valuable addition to any pantry.
How do you use saffron?
For the best flavour and colour, gently crush a few saffron threads and steep them in a small amount of warm (not boiling) water, milk or stock for 10–15 minutes before adding the liquid and threads to your recipe.
This allows the saffron to fully release its colour, aroma and flavour.
How much saffron should I use?
Because saffron is highly concentrated, only a small pinch is needed for most recipes. Using too much can overpower a dish, while a few threads are often enough to achieve its signature golden colour and delicate flavour.
Can you eat saffron raw?
Yes. Saffron is safe to consume, but it is typically infused in warm liquid before use to maximise its flavour and colour. This method is recommended for the best cooking results.
How should saffron be stored?
Store saffron in an airtight container in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Properly stored, saffron retains its quality and aroma for an extended period.
